About 'Medicina Modernă'
The "Medicina Modernă" Journal (ISSN 1223-0472) was established in 1994 by 'Fundaţia "Alpha"'; the Journal is published monthly by the Romanian College of Physicians (the Bucharest office).

Ever since its early beginings, the Editorial Board of our journal included top Romanian physicians, most of them teaching within the 'Carol Davila' University of Medicine and Pharmacy university in Bucharest; we kindly remember here Prof. Dr.  Ranga (MD, PhD), Prof. Dr. Prişcu (MD, PhD) and Prof. Dr. Stroescu (MD, PhD).

Our journal is important to all health care professionals in Romania; its aim is to provide updates and original studies, as well as systematic insights of current, state-of-the-art diagnostic and therapeutic procedures - sometimes 'seasoned' with personal thoughts and points of view of world-famous proffessionals. The interest showed by our readers made us broaden our distribution to national scale back in 1996.

Our journal addresses all health care professionals (regardless of their specialization, since we strive to cover all medical specialties); our subscribers range from medical students to medical proffessors and university lecturers.

Last (but not the least) our journal facilitates exchanging ideas with fellow physicians worldwide, as proven by the numerous papers submitted by colleagues from another countries or by foreign physicians licensed to practice in Romania, or undergoing trainings here.

Our journal invites authors to submit manuscripts (due observance being paid to our minimal requirements):

All manuscripts are peer-reviewed. The goal of this procedure is to assist authors in improving the presentation of their work based on constructive suggestions, and to accept for publishing only those papers complying to the minimal requirements for publishing reliable medical works (i.e. originality, clarity of expression, citation of references to similar works, validity of results and conclusions, etc.)

Peer-review process
All manuscripts should be submitted in electronic format (MS Word 2000/XP) to the contact addresses; all proffessional data processing (tables, charts etc.) shall be performed byy our specialists. We strongly encourage the submission of a valid email address for at least one author, so that the Editorial Board may further communicate with the authors.

Upon the receipt of the manuscript the author shall receive a brief confirmation email; our technical staff shall check whether due observance is being paid to all formal requirements set forth in the instructions for authors and whether the manuscript fits the goals of our journal. Whenever in doubt our technical staff consults one of the members of the Editorial Board. The manuscripts are later sent to the editorial counsellor (physician) with expertise in the main medical field discussed in the paper.

Whenever a manuscript does not observe all editorial board requirements the counselor notifies the author and suggests all the modifications required for manuscript acceptance.

Whenever a manuscript contains severe errors (content / clarity of expression) and / or whenever the manuscript submitted does not fall within the intended goal of our journal the manuscript is rejected; the decision to reject a manuscript is irrevocable, and therefore it must be authorized by our Chief Editor.

Whenever a manuscript meets all editorial board criteria, it gets to be analyzed by at least two members of the editorial board (one of them being an editorial board counselor); we usually prefer to have at least one reviewer from a region (university) other than the one the author(s) are affiliated to. Based on the formal reviewer assessment presented within the monthly meeting of the editorial board, a decision is made whether to publish the manuscript 'as is' / following minor modifications or to reject the manuscript.

The decision made by the editorial board in session is later on communicated to the author by email / phone.

Whenever a manuscript is accepted for publication only if certain (minor) modifications are required the author is kindly invited to submit the new manuscript (with the modifications suggested by the editorial board) within one month (at most) from notification date.
